Miss Julie has lived in the Madison area most of her life. She began taking dance when she was 6 years old upon a doctor’s recommendation. She was born with a clubfoot and the doctor recommended ballet to help her. She has been dancing ever since then and has trained in tap, jazz, ballet, modern, and even hula!

Miss Julie currently works at the UW-Madison Small Business Development Center as the Education Program Manager and Youth Entrepreneur Camp Director. She also has her own company, E-Seedling, where she teaches youth entrepreneurship and helps others to do so as well. In addition, she participates and choreographs for the Oregon Straw Hat Players productions.

Teaching has been a passion of Julie’s ever since she graduated from college. Whether it’s teaching through the UW, her own company, or the studio, she likes to help others learn. She enjoys empowering her students to be more than they thought they could be. Students often say, “I can’t”, and her response is the one a teacher of hers once told her, “Can’t died in the corn field”, much to the puzzlement of her students.

Fun facts: Julie has 2 sons who have both been the Snow King and Cavalier in the Nutcracker. Her first paying choreography job was for a commercial for “The Lubrication Station”, now known as “Jiffy Lube”.
