A Leap Above Dance Dress Code

Studio Dress Code

Creative Dance

Comfortable clothes to move in, nothing too baggy.   Pull hair away from face.  No Jewelry.
Girls: pink leather or canvas ballet shoes.

Boys: black leather or canvas ballet shoes.

Note:  Please tuck ties into ballet shoes.  Satin slippers will not be allowed because they are too slippery and do not stay on dancer’s feet.

 

Pre-ballet

Girls: Pink tights and any color leotard.  Ballet skirts are allowed but please no large tutus. Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes. (No satin slippers)  Pull hair away from face. No Jewelry.
Boys: Comfortable clothes for moving, nothing too baggy.  Black leather or canvas ballet shoes. 

Note:  Please tuck ties into ballet shoes.  Satin slippers will not be allowed because they are too slippery and do not stay on dancer’s feet.

Ballet/Jazz

Pink or tan tights and any color leotard.  Non-baggy warm-ups and leg warmers are allowed for the beginning of class. Skirts and dance shorts are allowed, no tutus, t-shirts, tank tops allowed. Jazz pants okay for second half of class.  Ballet or jazz shoes (no street shoes).  For recital you will need tan jazz shoes.  Wear hair in a neat bun, if hair is short pull away from face.  No jewelry.
Boys: Black jazz pants or shorts and solid colored t-shirt (not baggy); and black jazz shoes.

 

Tap (all levels)

Comfortable clothes for moving that don’t cover feet.  No Jeans or baggy clothes.

Beg. Tap and Tap II: Black patent leather tap shoes.  Boys:  Black lace up tap shoes in leather.

Tap III and up: black lace or boot style tap shoe.

These shoes are required for the recital, if you have a different style of tap shoe they are still allowed for class.

 

All Ballet Classes

Skirts and dance shorts are allowed (in centre work only), no tutus, t-shirts, tank tops, bras or street shorts allowed.  Must have pink split-sole ballet shoes (leather or canvas).  Wear hair in a neat bun, if hair is short pull away from face.  No jewelry.
Boys: Black jazz pants or shorts and solid colored t-shirt (not baggy); and black ballet slippers.

Jazz, SuperHero Dance & Musical Theatre Classes

Dancers can wear jazz pants, leggings, or tights with leotards, tanks or tees.  Do not wear baggy clothes.  Wear tan (Capezio brand-caramel) jazz shoes (split-soles preferred).  Tan is required for the recital, if you have a different color shoe they are still allowed for class.

Wear hair away from face and off neck.  No jewelry.

Boys: Black jazz pants or shorts and solid colored t-shirt (not baggy); and black jazz shoes.

 

Modern Classes

Dancers can wear jazz pants, leggings, or tights with leotards, tanks or tees.  Do not wear baggy clothes.  Barefoot or modern sandals.  Wear hair away from face and off neck.

 

Hip Hop Classes (including Jazz/hip hop combo class)

Comfortable clothes for moving; sweat pants, leggings or other dance apparel. no jeans .  Black dance sneakers in canvas or leather for recital.  New sneakers (without rubber bottoms) used for dance only, no street shoes permitted on the dance floor. Wear hair away from face and off neck. No jewelry.


Tumbling
Tight fitted clothing, no shoes or socks.  Wear hair away from face and off neck. No jewelry.

Parent & Tot and Adult Classes 
Comfortable clothing, no street shoes.
